Blood Sweat and Tears

Behind the Action

As a professional athlete and active competitor, people have often asked me how they can support me. The truth is, I really don’t need anything more than the kind words and knowing I have amazing people to come home to no matter how good or bad I perform. That being said, there are so many other people who are not as fortunate as I am and have a real fight ahead of them that I could never begin to imagine.
Since I started competing in 2018 at small local competitions, I have always run little fundraisers for the Canadian Cancer Society. These usually took the form of small Facebook events and posts that raised a little bit of money through the family and friends I reached. I have seen family and friends battle cancer, and most of them didn’t win. My hope is that we can change that some day. I strongly support the work done by the Canadian Cancer Society and hope that through this campaign, we can get some more help for them and the people they serve.
I was recruited to participate in the IBSA Pan Ams in 2019. The event took place in early January 2020. Because this event was so large and took place right after Christmas, I wanted to do something different. I have spent a lot of time in BC Children’s Hospital due to my vision, and I know how hard that is on a child and family. While money helps, we are talking about kids, sick and scared kids, and I wanted to bring a little more joy to their lives. I started a gift drive to brighten their holidays and now have the Patient Experience address saved to my Amazon account to reduce shipping costs on their gifts. I am able t make wishlists based off what they need or simply purchase the items they are asking for and send them directly to them. Keep an eye out for these seasonal events.
Most recently, I have started asking people to donate blood or plasma at their closed Canadian Blood Services clinic. I started this during the pandemic because there is a huge need for it and at the time, so many people were out of work and struggling, I didn’t feel right asking them to donate what little money they had. This is a free way to help others and save a life.
I’m hoping that this campaign grows and we can see more success and support for all of these causes.

2022 Grand Prix - Brazil

June 27 - July 7

I will be representing Canada in the 2022 Grand Prix in Brazil! I am so excited! In one week I will be at the airport heading out on this adventure. I will be posting a link to the livestream for anyone who wants to watch. As we all know, I care about the people around me and the people in Canada, there is no question about that. At this point in my athletic career, I have the opportunity to compete around the world, and these countries and people are kind enough to have m and the other athletes and coaches there, welcoming us with open arms. I think it is equally important to show that we care about humanity in general, not just the people in our own country. As part of the Blood Sweat and Tara campaign, I’m officially launching “Fight With Me”. I’m choosing to fight in Brazil and so can you. Click the link below to donate to the relief efforts in Brazil, help them fight the flooding and get back to normal! Remember everyone, WE FIGHT TOGETHER!

Come say hi, learn a little bit about Blood Sweat and Tears, and book your donation appointment on Wednesday, June 22, after 5pm. The clinic will also have special seats reserved for my supporters to come donate plasma on my competition day, July 2, and will be live-streaming the event on their monitors for you to watch!
